Rookie sensation Marcos Flack has taken Bob Jane T-Marts to a win in only his second-ever start in Carrera Cup during the opening round supporting the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.

Flack enjoyed a very impressive run at the Melbourne street track, qualifying on the front row of the grid before finishing fifth in Race 1, seventh in the second and capped it off with an impressive runner-up position in the finale.

That second place finish was later improved to first when winner Dale Wood was penalised for an on-track incident, handing Flack the race win.

The second 'Pro' Bob Jane T-Marts entry of Angelo Mouzouris proved fast, but was not able to stitch together a result to reward his speed. The former Formula Ford champion qualified 12th, but was run wide in the opening race by another competitor to finish 18th. He came back to be 12th and right on the tail of the top 10 in the second. Mouzouris ended the weekend in 11th.

In the Pro-Am class, Rodney Jane made an impressive start, winning his class in Thursday's first race, He scored another podium place in the twilight of Race 2 as he finished the weekend in retirement after being an innocent party of an opening lap incident.

The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship will be the ITM Taupo SuperSprint in New Zealand on April 19-21.
