Oh goodie: I finally have a recording of Boomerang from its first month of being available in high definition widescreen, which was when they abandoned their own custom rating icons used since 2016 in favor of using Cartoon Network’s Dimensional-era rating icons from 2015-23,...and adopted the Turner stretch for all 4x3 programs whose masters don’t have hardcoded black bars burned into their transfers. Yuck. Thank goodness Boomerang started airing all 4x3 programs in the right aspect ratio again in October 2023 (following a month of using Discovery’s 14x9 crop filter for 4x3 shows lacking pillarboxed widescreen transfers when they first adopted the conglomerate’s broadcast system, though).

Funnily enough, Boomerang followed up their airing of the Billy & Mandy episode “Reap Walking”, which features a cameo from Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang in their classic designs, with their promo for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?. Confidential timing, or a deliberate choice. Eh, it’s almost certainly the former, but it’s still amusing how perfectly lined-up this broadcasting choice was. I included their cameo appearance in this video just to prove this occurrence did indeed happen.
