State and Territory Health Ministers are calling on the Federal Parliament to pass new vaping laws.

In a united plea, they said it's important for Australia to maintain its tight tobacco control.

They added the new laws would help smokers kick the habit.

Federal Health Minister Mark Butler introduced legislation last month, which would crack down on single-use and non-therapeutic vapes.

Around one in six high school students and one in four Australians aged between 18 and 24 have taken up vaping.
