To ensure that the global shipping industry is as safe as possible stringent approval processes for components including castings are in place. This is necessary to help prevent failures that could be part of maritime incidents that affect both people and the environment.

This webinar, delivered by Mr. Clive Arnold, a Lead Metallurgist for Lloyd's Register Marine and Offshore, as a technical lecture to the ICME West Midlands, Birmingham and Coventry Branch of the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers in December 2021, explained the types of approvals available and the detail required to make a submission for an approval, including the depth of work required to ensure an approval could be obtained.
