Here is the complete breakdown of a young driver's costs in a typical journey to F1:
Yr1-2: Bambino karts, around 3k for kart and accessories + 4k per year
Yr3-6: Cadet karts, around 10k per kart, + 8k per year
Yr 7-8: Euro and World karting, £200k per year
Yr 9-10: GB3 series, £350k per year
Yr 11-12: FIA F3 - £850,000 per year
Yr 13-14: FIA F2 - £2.5m per year
Yr 15: F1 - £10m
