Perhaps the only actor to have played both a Bond villain AND James Bond himself, Toby Stephens played the vicious Gustav Graves opposite Pearce Brosnan in the 2002 Bond movie Die Another Day. Like a number of Bond villains, Graves was intended to be an evil reflection of Bond himself, and so it almost goes without saying that Toby Stephens was himself well-suited to the role of Bond. In 2008 he made his debut as the secret agent in a radio adaptation of Doctor No.

Several other plays followed at occasional intervals, and in no particular order - I've presented a selection of them in chronological order, however. This play is the last of them for the moment - a fact which may not surprise those who know how this one ends.

The story that immediately follows this one is 'You Only Live Twice', which has not yet been adapted by this team - but it was adapted by BBC radio in the early 1990s, with Michael Jayston as Bond. It's a little different in style to these plays so I won't be presenting it directly after this one - but I will likely 'unveil' it later in the year.

Anyway - this one sees Alfred Molina as Bond's archenemy, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. It also features a return appearance by Joanna Lumley, who appeared in the film adaptation of the story. This time, however, she plays one of the villains...
