What is your theory of chaplaincy? Chaplains seeking board certification are being asked to clearly identify the theory behind the spiritual care that they practice. The chaplaincy literature hasn’t had many theories. An important new one, the Religiously Informed, Relationally Skillful Chaplaincy Theory (RIRSCT), was just published by Judith Ragsdale and Cate Michelle Desjardins.* Join us for this webinar to hear Judy and Cate describe their theory. Our respondents, Laurie Garrett-Cobbina and Steve Nolan will lead a discussion about theories and models in chaplaincy.

Judith R. Ragsdale, MDiv, PhD, ACPE Certified Educator is the Senior Director of Pastoral Care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and an Associate Professor in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Cate Michelle Desjardins, MDiv, MPH, BCC is a Transforming Chaplaincy Fellow, Convener of the Pediatric Spiritual Care Research Network, and the Executive Director of Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship.

Rev. Laurie Garrett-Cobbina, PhD is Associate Professor of Pastoral Care & Education and Shaw Chair for CPE at the Graduate School of Theology of the University of Redlands. She is also the Director of the Shaw Chaplaincy Institute and an ACPE Certified Educator.
