Idolizing a person and equating them to Allah, the God in Islam, is a grave theological error that goes against the fundamental concept of Tawheed, or the oneness of Allah. In Islam, the belief in Tawheed is of utmost importance and is the central principle upon which the entire faith stands. It emphasizes the absolute and unique nature of Allah, free from any partners or associates.

When someone idolizes a person to the extent of equating them to Allah, they are essentially committing shirk, which is the gravest sin in Islam. Shirk is the act of associating partners or equals with Allah, and it negates the very essence of Tawheed. It is important to differentiate between the two meanings of an idol. The first meaning refers to revering or respecting something, which is technically permissible without any theological issues as long as it does not lead to worship or belief in its divinity. The second meaning of an idol as a statue, where people worship and ascribe divine qualities to it, is considered a form of shirk and is strictly prohibited in Islam.

Muslims are constantly reminded of the importance of Tawheed in the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They are instructed to direct all acts of worship, devotion, and obedience solely towards Allah, recognizing His absolute sovereignty and rejecting any form of idol worship or associating partners with Him.

In summary, idolizing a person and equating them to Allah in Islam is a theological mistake that violates the principle of Tawheed. Muslims are required to maintain the absolute oneness of Allah and avoid falling into the sin of shirk, which entails ascribing partners or equals to Allah. Understanding the true meaning of an idol and the importance of Tawheed is essential in upholding the central tenets of the Islamic faith.
