The new Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs in Wales Huw Irranca-Davies said it was ‘realistic’ to launch the Sustainable Farming Scheme in January 2025, but that it relied on the 'good will' of all parties involved. He confirmed that every consultation response would be reviewed and that he would be surprised if there were not any changes made. When it comes to tackling bovine TB in Wales, he said whilst he was not going to tell the new TB technical advisory group where they should be heading, the Welsh Government were ‘very clear’ that badger culling was not part of its policy and that badger vaccination is.
