〈猛虎〉一詩出自詩集《經驗之歌》，和《純真之歌》當中的The Lamb〈羔羊〉互為對詩，呈現分歧的世界觀和造物者截然不同的兩種性格。此詩透過反覆的詢問，試圖探問究竟是何等強大、可畏之造物者，始能造出兇猛如烈焰般的老虎，同時質疑造物者的動機，且驚嘆溫柔的羔羊與猛虎竟出自同個造物者之手。全曲以充滿力量的鋼琴與富有情緒張力的人聲相結合，營造出對造物者的讚嘆與質疑。

In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies,
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp!

When the stars threw down their spears
And water’d heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?

何等強大之手竟能攥握烈焰？

何等千錘百鍊？
此等智慧何處試煉？
何種鐵砧　鍛出懾人的掌控
憑藉利爪能令眾生膽寒！

當群星擲下箭矢
以淚水浸潤天堂
祂是否對著創作會心一笑？
創造羔羊的祂也創造了你嗎？
