September 3rd, 2022: It was a brutally hot start to September across much of the Desert Southwest and California — record setting for some. Although not a record-breaking heat wave for Arizona, temperatures in this part of the state still climbed to the mid-110s during the day. Nighttime relief was hard to come by as morning lows only reached the upper-80s. At the same time, conditions were rather humid, making for a particularly sweltering experience. Nevertheless, the waters and dammed lakes of the Colorado River provided pleasure. Vultures, black-crowned night herons, skunks, burros, and more, added life to the landscape.

From the National Park Service: "Discover Katherine Landing...
This oasis located just minutes from Bullhead City, Arizona, and Laughlin, Nevada, offers generous sunshine, sparkling blue water and white sandy beaches. Spend the day picnicking, hiking or taking a boat out onto Lake Mohave. Extend your stay a few days by staying at our campground or lodge. Boat and other equipment rentals are available on site."
