The start of our family holiday on the Isle of Wight. A day spent seeing some of Portsmouth’s highlights & searching for (& finding) the memorial of a long-lost family relative. Cruise ship watching; seeing our last cruise ship P&O Iona and our next ship P&O Ventura sailing along the Solent past the Isle of Wight. A trip up the Spinnaker Tower for some excellent views of the Portsmouth area & the Historic Dockyard excellent views. Ferry travel on the Wightlink hybrid energy ferry Victoria of Wight; a very smooth & hassle-free crossing from Portsmouth to Fishbourne. Our holiday base at The Lakes, Rookley; an excellent base for exploring the island, followed by a delicious evening meal at the Dairyman’s Daughter pub; we would highly recommend it.
