Gregory Smith is currently an Associate Professor of Management Information
Systems in the Williams College of Business at Xavier University. He holds a PhD
in Business Information Technology from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University. At Xavier, he focuses his teaching and research on computer-based
data mining applications and associated ethical implications. His passion for the
subject matter led him to create the Xavier/SAS® certificate testing center for
Predictive Modeling. It stands as one of only a handful of on-campus test centers
in the United States.
He also co-invented Xavier University's suite of American Dream indices including
the American Dream Composite IndexTM(ADCI). The ADCI is a unique and robust
measure of sentiment that values the American Dream on a monthly basis. This
instrument is changing the way people view the American Dream and the way
organizations view quality of life.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
