Hello everyone, I'm a professional electronics repair technician, and today we are going to tackle a rather unusual case, alongside my colleague, Leonardo.
This device previously landed in our lab three weeks ago, and we had given the customer an estimated repair cost of around 70 euros. However, the customer decided to go for a second opinion, and now the device is back with us for reevaluation. So, let's see what surprises are in store for us today.

If you're someone who regularly works with electronic devices, the electric screwdriver that we're using can be a great asset to optimize your time. The purchase link is available in the video description. First things first, we start by removing the top antenna and disconnecting the battery. This step is essential to prevent further electronic damage to the device while we work on it, essentially forestalling any potential short circuits on the motherboard.

As we delve into the device, we immediately notice that a metal sheet, protecting two crucial circuits of the motherboard, has been removed. This paves the way for potential problems. Following this, we disconnect the cameras and the remaining flex cables to free the motherboard and facilitate an unobstructed inspection and repair process. If you find this kind of content valuable, don't forget to hit the like button.

To dig deeper and inspect the finer details, we resort to a microscope. This allows us to identify any potential damages that might not be noticeable to the naked eye. Right off the bat, we find solder balls of a considerable size on the motherboard. This discovery indicates that excessive heat may have been applied during the previous repair attempt.

As we continue our inspection, we find even more solder balls, both large and small, scattered around the components. These are unmistakable signs of overheating. The implications are clear, but I encourage everyone to draw their own conclusions. On our YouTube channel, we dive deeper into how to properly handle shields on electronic motherboards, a trick I picked up many years ago in the workshops of Guangzhou, China.

We then connect the motherboard to a power laboratory supply to examine its behavior. The board exhibits a minimum consumption of 5 mAh, an alarming sign. Given the severity of the damage, the solution to this device will demand substantial work and time. We would need to remove all integrated circuits and hope that neither the CPU nor the memory has suffered internal damage - a grim prospect considering the evidence of overheating.

Remember, each repair workshop has its unique techniques and skills. Although the owner decided to take the device elsewhere and then returned to us, it's essential to respect the diversity in approaches. That's all from Leonardo and me today. Thanks for watching, and we hope to see you in the next one. Stay safe!
