It's the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S aftermarket version vs the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S * (BMW) marked version. Both sets of tires are in the same 275/35 R19 front and 285/30 R20 rear sizes, both are made by Michelin, the differences is that the * marked set have had 2.5 years of development with BMW to make it the perfect tyre for the G80 M3.

Is there actually any changes in OE tyres vs the tyres you can buy in the market? Or is it all marketing? In this test we answer that exact question by interviewing the lead developer of the new * marked MPS4S and then testing it in the wet and dry VS an aftermarket version in exactly the same size and spec.
