I compare my newly purchased Apple M2 Max Mac Studio and put it up against my recently acquired M1 Max Mac Studio. The announcement of the M2-equipped Mac Studio at WWDC2023 surprised me as Apple's refresh intervals for their Apple Silicon desktops seemed to be on average at around 2 years. I purchased the new Mac Studio on opening day and put it up against the M1 version of the Mac Studio. The M2 Max is faster in every way EXCEPT for SSD read speeds where it seems to take a 10% speed hit compared to the outgoing model. I run a bunch of benchmarks to get a sense of what the M2 Max's performance figures are compared to the M1's.
