Join us as we meet a Honda engine tuner who makes perhaps one of the finest Naturally Aspirated engines in Japan. Using the know how and experience and technology from Formula racing engines with his knowledge of building and assembling race engines for Mugen F3000 and F3 programs in the 80s 90s, Makoto Kawashima started his brand K-Tech Engine Service in the early 2000s to offer a level of tuning engine to Honda enthusiasts never available before. Keen eyed JDM fans of Best Motoring and Hyper Rev magazine would have seen his creations in Seeker`s Civic Type R EK9 and S2000 with a meticulously fully re-engineered engine with his original H-I shape conrod and F1 style pistons. His own S2000 demo car featured the first `square engine` specification F20C that delivered response and power and the all important mid-range torque that addressed the weakness of the original design.

Captbradford meets Kawashima san at the 2021 Honda Style Fun & Run event introduced by Seeker`s Ryo Teraoka to find out what makes K-Tech`s engines so unique and appreciated in the Japanese VTEC community. We look at the details of the new F240-VPL 2.4 litre F20C based engine that delivers 340PS@8100rpm , 33kgm/6100rpm. This figure is reminiscent of yesteryears Group A engines but carefully designed for street use while retaining reliability that standard Honda engines are well known for. How is this possible? The `secrets` are in the design and production of the special components that are the heart of the engine itself. The crankshaft, conrods, pistons and pin. Find out in the video as he shows us the details of this `racing to street F1 engine`.
