French actress Adele Exarchopoulos, who co-won last year's Palme d'Or for 'Blue is the Warmest Colour', on Thursday (May 15) picked up another award in Cannes which recognises her as an important young actress. Exarchopoulos collected the Chopard Trophy alongside fellow recipient Logan Lerman, star of teen drama 'The Perks of being a Wallflower'.

Actress Cate Blanchett presented the award on day two of the 67th Cannes Film Festival at the exclusive Hotel Martinez on the sun-drenched Croisette.

"Logan Lerman, and Adele Exarchopoulos who everyone in here in Cannes knows. But certainly in my household, my sons have not yet seen Adele's work - they're only 12, 10 and 6 - but I certainly have. And Logan Lerman whose performances I found initially from 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', and I wept like a baby. They're so available and open, and as I said utterly individual. So, I have an inappropriate crush on both of them, so it's an extreme pleasure to be here to present the awards to them tonight," said Blanchett.

The Chopard Prize, now in its 14th year, was created to recognise young talents emerging as the movie stars of tomorrow.

Exarchopoulos was awarded the Cannes Film Festival's top honour in 2013 alongside director Abdellatif Kechiche and co-star Lea Seydoux. 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' (which has the French title, "La Vie d'Adele - Chapitre 1 & 2"), was tipped by critics as a possible winner at the 66th Cannes festival, but wondered if its explicit lesbian sex scenes - one lasting up to 10 minutes - would deter the jury deciding the awards led by U.S. filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

In an unusual move, Spielberg said the award would be shared between Kechiche and his two lead actresses as they were central to the film's success.

Accepting her trophy, Exarchopoulos cheekily reciprocated Blanchett's affection.

"I'm so happy to be the patron and thank you for the pronunciation too. And I'm happy you have a crush on me, because I have a crush on you too. So thank you so much, and I want to congratulate the guy, Logan. Thank you so much - you make me live the dream," she said.

Logan Lerman, the other recipient of the 2014 Chopard Prize, has been steadily gaining a reputation as a versatile young actor with roles ranging from teen-angst drama 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' to the title role in two films in the 'Percy Jackson' fantasy adventure series.

"This truly means a lot to me. This is a big deal. It's my first time at Cannes and it's a very memorable experience. So, hopefully I can be back next time with a film," he said.
