making a pair of oriental wooden jewelry boxes using an open post and rail mortise and tenon construction method. using only wedges to hold the completed boxes together, no nails or screws. The faces of the boxes use a grain matching technique where the different pieces are cut from the board and then reassembled in the same relationship they had in the board originally. One box is built from curly maple and the other from cherry. they are both finished with a wipe on varnish.
