This summer, I had the opportunity to work at CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire, or European Council for Nuclear Research), the world's largest particle physics research center. This video is sponsored by Altium Designer. Altium Designer is a powerful software that makes the PCB/electronics design process easy. Try it for free: https://www.altium.com/yt/kylie-ying
This summer, I traveled to Geneva, Switzerland so I could participate in some research at the world's largest particle physics research center - CERN (European Council for Nuclear Research). What is it like to work at CERN?
So, what really happens at CERN? In this video, I explain the science at CERN: what particles are and what the Standard Model is. I explain why we need the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) to accelerate particles to 99.9999991% the speed of light. And above all, I explain why CERN might be one of the most incredible places on Earth.
I actually spent my summer doing a research project at CERN, so I briefly discuss what I've been up to and what I'm currently working on (hint: data compression)!
Aside from that, Switzerland was absolutely amazing, so I've included a 2 minute travel montage as well.. featuring a lot of fondue and hiking :)
