Welcome to Scott Ransopher’s Poetry Podcast. Where I read and discuss my poems. I’m Scott Ransopher. Today, I’ll be talking about an untitled poem. It begins with the line: "What is human?" Let’s get started! In 2001, I wrote and typed an untitled poem. It begins with the line: "What is human?" You can read along with me in the description.

What is human?
Existing with the characteristics of those merciful, civilized
And refined;
Nothing but a pre-distributed trait.
To be, or live, with the same needs and physical qualities
Typical of mankind;
He believes not.
To house, and exercise, a neural capacity larger and faster
Than the most advanced super-computers;
Possibly.
Rather the answer lies not in how they are,
But how they should be.
To be human is to act upon those allocations,
Not just announcing the gift to you.
To be human is to understand,
Act by reason but not suppress their primeval urges.
Though this answer would put some of the wildlife with them,
Of course,
They can't allow for that to happen.

An untitled poem. It begins with the line: "What is human?" Now on Amazon: Collected Poems Volume One 1995-2001 Kindle, paperback and hardcover. That brings us to the end of this episode! I hope an untitled poem. It beings with the line: "What is human?" was beneficial to you. As always, thanks for listening to Scott Ransopher’s Poetry Podcast.
