As a result of the pandemic, Riverdale was forced to halt production and those few remaining episodes of season 4 will be tagged onto the upcoming season 5. Showrunner Aguirre-Sarcasa has said that after the first three episodes, there will be a significant time jump, skipping Archie and the gang's college years and revisiting them when they are young adults.
