Let me show you a simple way to fix the common iPhone error message saying "the time zone cannot be set manually due to device restrictions." If you're encountering this for the first time or you're already familiar with the issue, the first step is to navigate to your iPhone's Settings, then scroll down to select "General."

Within General, tap on "Date & Time." Here, you'll notice you're unable to adjust the time zone settings; they'll appear greyed out, accompanied by the error message indicating manual setting is not possible. This problem typically stems from a specific setting within the "Screen Time" feature.

To resolve this, go back to the main Settings menu, then find and tap on "Screen Time." This feature might have been configured during your iPhone's initial setup and might not be something you regularly interact with. Scroll down to the bottom and locate the "Share Across Devices" option. Disable it by tapping the slider on the right.

Once that's done, return to the Settings menu, go into "General" again, and then "Date & Time." You should now be able to switch off the "Set Automatically" option. This will enable you to manually adjust your time zone, set the date through a calendar view, and alter the time displayed on your iPhone as needed.

After making the necessary changes, simply exit out of the menus, and your iPhone will update to reflect the new settings. This is especially useful if you're adjusting your settings after a daylight savings time change and it wasn't updating correctly. For a final touch, consider rebooting your phone. Once it's back on, you might want to try re-enabling the automatic setting to see if it corrects the time as expected.
