17 year old student, Raychel Gilles, had recently completed First Aid/CPR training with Action First Aid as part of her high school program. Little did she know, she would soon need to put her life-saving skills to the test. Watch Raychel & George’s #savestory!

Raychel attended a men’s pick-up hockey game with her dad and was acting as the score keeper, when suddenly she noticed the goalie, George Padani, had suddenly fallen to the ice... Raychel immediately recognized the signs of Sudden Cardiac Arrest – agonal breathing was a key indicator. She gathered her courage and began to direct the scene – asking the hockey players to help her take off his equipment. Raychel began to provide CPR – remembering to push hard and fast.

Thankfully, because of Raychel’s quick response and the arrival of EMS and an AED, George survived. The chance or survival from Sudden Cardiac Arrest is very low, unless immediate CPR is provided and a shock is given within 10 minutes. With Raychel recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and armed with the knowledge of what to do, she was empowered to take action!
