A new TiE Silicon Valley series that brings the best, brightest, and most inspiring speakers to discuss trending and disruptive technologies. Golden Globe brings the brightest stars from the newest realms of technology together in an interactive conversation.

This month's event will feature Dr. Timothy Day, a scientist and entrepreneur who is a co-founder and CSO of Particella, Inc. Particella is a genetic medicine company focused on oral delivery of mRNA to the gastrointestinal tract utilizing a novel lipid nanoparticle delivery vehicle. His technical background is in the gene delivery and gene therapy space. He received his PhD in neuroscience at UC Berkeley with a thesis specifically focused on the engineering of novel viral gene delivery vehicles for the treatment of inherited eye diseases.

The event will be moderated by Akon Mugabwa. Akon is the CEO and Co-Founder of Winko Solar. Winko, a Kenya headquartered company, specialises into providing commercial to utility-scale solar power and energy storage solutions for healthcare facilities in Africa.

After starting his career in Computer Forensics where he specialised in writing algorithms to detect outliers in financial transactions, working at companies such as SWIFT, IBM, PWC, Bain and launching his own consulting practice. Akonkwa then spent the last decade building solar initiatives with his co-founder Wing Tse in East and West Africa, culminating in the launch of Winko in 2020. Following a pre-seed round led by Go Ahead Ventures and the Berkeley Skydeck Fund, they went to market in January 2022 and have seen 300% YoY growth since.

A Congolese born Belgian citizen, Akonkwa holds an MBA from UC Berkeley, a Msc in Management from HEC Paris, a BSc in Computer Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain.
