Marvel has a ton of legendary love stories from both the page and the big screen. Peter Parker & Mary Jane, Steve Rogers & Peggy Carter and Tony Stark & Pepper are just a few of the pop culture romances that make fans believe in true love. None of those are the greatest love story in Marvel though. There’s one that transcends life, space and all reason. The doomed love between Deadpool and Death herself. There’s only one thing standing in between these two bizarre Marvel characters from having their happily ever after, Thanos himself.

If you were just familiar with Thanos from the MCU, you might not be aware that he’s OBSESSED with death. By obsessed I don’t mean the idea that he could save the universe if he took out half of all life. I mean that he’s literally obsessed with the woman who is the embodiment of Death itself. Thanos has spent most of his time in Marvel comics dedicated to proving to Death that he’s worthy of her affection. Despite all the chaos, godly powers and superhero fights Thanos has gotten into for her, she has no interest.

Deadpool, on the other hand, has managed to charm Death in a way the Mad Titan never could. The two would be a perfect match if Thanos hadn’t doomed the couple by giving Deadpool eternal life.
