I have a contact within GM who I recently spoke with on the phone. Obviously I can't divulge who they are, in order to protect their identity, so I will be referring to them as Prometheus. While speaking with them on the phone, they informed me that the Z06 will have a completely different transmission than the current Stingray. I believe part of that to be because of the power gains from the new engine. But the interesting part is the fact that it will be made out of Magnesium instead of aluminum, creating a TON of weight savings.

We also spoke about the fact that GM has a patent for a type of transmission that would allow for the C8 corvette to have a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. This is what we have all been waiting for. Here's how it would work. Imagine the same technology in the paddle shifters, but instead of pression the paddles you actually have a stick to shift instead. It's still electronic, and still the dual clutch system, but it gives you a feel of a manual transmission. Which means you still have a clutch pedal as well.

Keep in mind, NONE OF THIS IS CONFIRMED as of 5/20/2021. More information may come out soon, but as of right now, I can only take Prometheus as their word.
