Hi folks! In this video I will be turning a big super shiny bowl from spruce burl on the woodturning lathe.

Classic case of 'you never know what's in there'! I've had this piece of wood for 18 months or more, definitely wouldn't have waited that long knowing how curly the grain was!

The wood was very soft so tear out was an ongoing issue, sanding sealer to harden the fibres, super light cuts and a good power sanding did the trick.

Sealed with chestnut's sanding sealer and finished in a clear acrylic lacquer before a Yorkshire Grit polishing.
