About API 510:
Certified API 510 certified inspector must have knowledge related to maintenance, inspection, repair, and alteration of pressure vessels.
API 510 certification is valid for a three-year term
It is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Exam Structure:
The API 510 exam day is 7.5 hours long
A short tutorial session
2.75 - closed-book portion
45 minutes lunch break
3.75 - open-book portion

Exam Structure:
Closed Book Portion (2.75 hours): This part includes questions that assess your general knowledge of pressure vessels, standards, and inspection methods. You are not allowed to use any reference materials during this section. (110 Questions)

Open Book Portion (3.75 hours): This part allows you to use specific codes, standards, and other reference materials to answer questions related to pressure vessel design, fabrication, and inspection. (60 Questions)

Total 170 questions:
110 closed-book questions
60 open-book questions

Out of 170 questions, 140 are for scoring purpose and the remaining are pretest questions.

Pretest questions are experimental in nature that don't affect your score. They help API evaluate new questions for future exams, ensuring fairness and quality.
