The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Institute (KAIPTC) was established by the Government of Ghana with the mandate to train Civilian, Police, and Military personnel for multidimensional peacekeeping and Peace Support Operations (PSOs) in Africa. Located in Accra, Ghana, the Centre delivers training courses in three thematic areas; Peace Support Operations, Conflict Management and Peace and Security Studies and also offers Masters and PhD programmes in same. KAIPTC has a world-class research department that undertakes research in thematic areas in Peace and Security. The Centre also has a Women, Peace and Security Institute that exists to support the implementation of the Maputo Protocol and the UNSCR 1325 and its follow-up resolutions on Women, Peace and Security in Africa.
