Rick Teska here. Today I'll be walking you through the 2023 Medicare Part D Enrollment Period.

"Did you know that you don't get prescription drug benefits automatically when you enroll in original Medicare, which includes part A hospital insurance and part B medical insurance? Did you know that there are only certain periods of time throughout the year when you can get or change your part D coverage? stay tuned as we take you through how the upcoming fall annual enrollment period will affect your prescription drug coverage in 2023"

"To be eligible for enrollment in a part D Medicare drug plan during the annual enrollment period or another election period, you must live in an area where plans are available and you must have Medicare parts A and part B. the Medicare annual enrollment period starts on October 15th and ends on December 7th. During this time, you can join a part D Medicare prescription drug plan to add drug benefits to your original Medicare coverage. You can switch from original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan. You can switch from a standalone part D plan to a Medicare advantage prescription drug plan and vice versa. You can switch from one standalone part D plan to another standalone part D plan. It's important to note that you only have about eight weeks to make any of those changes. Those changes always go into effect on January 1st of the following year. For example, if you enrolled in a Part D drug plan by December 7th, 2022, your coverage would start on January 1st, 2023. A lot of people we talk to are generally aware that we are approaching the time to make changes, but we are constantly asked how to go about shopping and comparing and making changes to those plans"
