Ken-Tool announces the company’s latest tire changing tool set – the 17.5” Sidewinder Kit (PN 35459). This new kit features five unique tools that allow a technician to easily and safely mount and demount 17.5” low platform trailer, van, and 1-ton dually tires – a single part number solution for quick, easy servicing of these tough tires and wheels!

The kit features the patent-pending 17.5” Sidewinder Demount Tool (PN 35455) that revolutionizes the way these tires are demounted. The design allows a technician to use his body weight to separate the wheel from the tire while keeping the wheel assembly from lifting off the ground. The demount tool is used with the 17.5” Gap Tool (PN 35456) to create an opening between the wheel and tire bead to easily insert the Sidewinder demount tool. The Gap Tool also has a spooned end to provide added “bite” for easier mounting when regular tools may be too thick to be inserted.

For mounting 17.5” tires, the new Sidewinder Mount Tool (PN35457) features a stepped mount end for maximum leverage with the top bead, and a notched spoon end to prevent the tool from slipping off the rim. The Sidewinder kit includes the all-new aluminum Bead Holder (PN 31715) which is designed to fit over steel or alloy wheels to prevent the tire from slipping off the rim during mounting of the top and bottom beads. Also included is Ken-Tool’s patented Leather Rim Protector (PN 31810) to keep the tools from possibly marring the surfaces of alloy or painted wheels.
