I have no idea why it was so poor on the Ender 3. The point is that this is a good system, and tech support plus a premade copy of Marlin 1.1.9 is available if you contact the creator.

I’m a fan of auto bed leveling and BLtouch especially, but thought it was worth checking out the novel Touch Mi from hotends.fr as an alternative. Considering you don’t need a pin27 board for this on Creality printers like you do for the BLtouch, it becomes even cheaper.

I really appreciate the innovation of this sensor. To avoid the need for a servo PWM pin from the mainboard, it instead uses a magnet to lift a magnetic ball bearing and release the probing pin. The pin lifts inside the housing upon bed contact, triggering the sensor. When the probing is done, moving the nozzle close to the bed pushes the pin up enough for the magnet to attract it clear for printing.

Unfortunately, sometimes the homing magnet activates the probe at the wrong time, causing some nasty grinding. I also found the repeatability of this probe poor compared to the BLtouch.

If I’m doing something wrong, please let me know! As I said in the video, I could slow down the probing, but this is not necessary for other ABL systems.
