This weekend I can present to You the full Drive & Sound test with the new 2016 / 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS 500/550 4Matic powered by a 4.7 liter Twin-Turbo V8 delivering 455 hp and a whopping 700 Nm of torque. When I first got into the vehicle I was not expecting to have this much fun. I was anticipating a heavy and huge vehicle only being made for the US-market but what I got to drive for 2 days was really convincing, truly. Especially the revised V8 is a real joy. As you know that I drove the recent CLS 500 just a few weeks ago I can tell you that there's definitely more punch from this engine! But the steering and suspension is probably what really makes this car a proper one, also for European roads. Mercedes has understood how to set up the steering to feel very settled and sporty on curvy roads, yet being easy to handle while being in town. Also from a damper side it seems that they have given the GLS a similar setting to what GLE and GLC have, let's call it comfortable & stable.
