A review of Thomas Nelson's King James Version (KJV) Center-Column Reference Bible with Apocrypha in black genuine leather (ISBN 9781400332113, Style# 9746BK).

The text is printed in two 51 mm wide, 56-line-tall columns, organized into verses, with in-text headings. In the books of the Protestant canon, approximately 73,000 cross references and text and translation notes appear in the center column. The Apocrypha is presented without notes or references, and the text columns there are broader (60 mm).

The line-matched, 9.5 point Comfort Print text is attractively printed with generous line spacing. The words of Christ are in red. Cross references and notes are in a roughly 6.5 point font.

The volume is tall, wide, and thin, measuring 9 11/16 x 6 13/16 x 1.5 inches in dimensions. Margins are narrow. The widest margin is at the top (17 to 20 mm).

Brief introductions accompany all of the books, including those of the Apocrypha.

The roughly 32 gsm paper is opaque, and show-through (ghosting) is not an issue. The volume is sewn and lies relatively flat in Genesis. Off-gutter lines of stitching can be found in the front and back. Page edges are covered in gold. Two 10 mm wide ribbon markers are provided, one black, one gold. Head and tail bands are black. The genuine leather cover features five raised hubs, a line of stitching along the edge, and an attractive grain pattern.

The Epistle Dedicatory is present, but not the Translators to the Reader. Seven color maps are located in the back, as well as 10 lined pages for notes; but you'll not find a concordance or map index. This edition also includes several brief articles, and two reading plans. It was printed in South Korea.

Apocryphal works included:
1 Esdras
2 Esdras
Tobit
Judith
Additions to Esther
Wisdom of Solomon
Ecclesiasticus
Baruch
The Song of the Three Young Men
Susanna
Bel and the Dragon
The Prayer of Manasses
1 Maccabees
2 Maccabees
3 Maccabees

3 Maccabees was not included in the original King James Bible. The text of 2 Esdras differs in minor ways from that published in the original King James Bible.

A viewer has pointed out that there is a serious typographical error at Wisdom 5.14. The word 'ungodly' has been replaced by 'Godly.' So where the original KJV read, 'For the hope of the ungodly is like dust that is blown away with the wind,' this edition has, 'For the hope of the Godly is like dust that is blown away with the wind.' The same viewer has discovered a similar error at Ecclesiasticus 11.17. See    • Two Typos in the Thomas Nelson KJV wi...   .
