In this episode I completely restore and rebuild the front forks.
When I first took the forks off the bike, I could not get the lower bolt removed as it had seized to the damper rod due to over torquing. I had a shop remove the bolt using a torch, impact gun and the proper damper rod tool.
After disassembly, all parts were cleaned and inspected and the lower fork tubes were refinished. I ordered as much OEM/NOS parts as I could find and rebuilt the forks as per the service manual. The manual called for adding 372cc of 10W fork oil.
Before they can be reinstalled on the bike, I still have to rebuild the air crossover system and finish restoring the steering clamps.
I'm off to work for an extra week so I won't have a new video for about a month or so. But I've got a lot of stuff prepared so next time off I'll get 2 or 3 new videos done which will include the wheel & wheel bearings, steering system and brakes.
Stay tuned.
