Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has handed in his nomination papers to run for a seat in the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh. The northern seat is regarded as a bastion of the Gandhi family, but the race for Raebareli is facing fierce competition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling BJP, which dominates the state.
