The Lexus UX300e now has more range and a bigger battery. Sounds great, right?

Well, it is great in a few ways, this electric luxury crossover SUV. But it's also compromised in many ways, so much so that it might not be right for you, depending on what your expectations are for an EV in 2024 and beyond.

That's because it still has slow DC charging (50kW CHAdeMO), slow AC charging (6.6kW) and it doesn't offer anywhere near as good real-world efficiency as you might hope it would, too.

Inherently, being built on the same platform as the petrol- and petrol-electric hybrid versions of the Lexus UX means this is a compromised SUV.

But it's also great in a few ways, and is definitely improved since the original version.
