WandaVision just ended a legendary first season that saw Wanda Maximoff accept her terrifying destiny as the world-destroying Scarlet Witch. This was quite the pivot from Wanda’s status as one of the less important MCU heroes to the possible Thanos of the series. Time will tell if she will continue along this path to becoming one of Marvel’s greatest villains or if she will find redemption. Chances are, this will largely be influenced by the witch who served as WandaVision’s primary villain, Agatha Harkness. In order to understand if she will nudge Wanda back to the side of heroes or throw her deeper into darkness, we need to figure out what Agatha’s motivations were to take over Wanda’s powers.

There seems to be three different options for this. For one, she could be as evil as she seems. It’s very possible that Agatha was planning to use her chaos magic to create her own fantasy world. While we didn’t get to know too much about Agatha, there are some educated guesses we can make. There’s also the possibility that she was secretly serving a greater evil being the whole time. All WandaVision fans know exactly which evil being I’m talking about. Then there’s the popular theory that Agatha wasn’t actually trying to hurt Wanda at all. This could’ve been a really aggressive lesson in the mystic arts.

So let’s dive right into Agatha’s mind as we try to figure out why she wanted Wanda’s powers.
