As part of their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, Apple decided to stop including chargers in the box with new iPhones.

There's only one problem — the charging cables that come with the new iPhone 12 are USB-C, and most people don't have USB-C chargers.

Apple could have included an adapter or dongle without increasing the size of the box. Instead, you'll be forced to purchase a USB-C charger if you don't have one already.
