Why Were All These Landmarks the Same Color?
Watch Light Up the World
Featuring Lisa’s World Lymphedema Day Celebration

“In 2004, I found out I had cervical cancer at the age of 29. Tests showed that it had spread toward my uterus, so they had to do a hysterectomy. In 2010, I mentioned to my doctor that my left ankle had begun to swell. At that point, they told me that I was just getting old. Lymphedema (LE) is one of those diseases that, even though so many people have it, not many people have heard about it. So, I thought if all these buildings and waterways were lit teal the same day at the same time, it would really raise awareness because people would wonder why were all these landmarks the same color, and then they would have the answer.”—Lisa McPartland, LE&RN New York State Chapter Co-Chair and featured in Light Up the World

World Lymphedema Day (WLD) is an annual celebratory event on March 6 to educate the world about lymphatic diseases. Join advocates from around the globe in educating your community, family, or even one friend.

We encourage you to be creative with your celebration. It can be live or virtual, simple or elaborate. The goal is to use your voice to express the change you want to see in the world—a world where eradicating lymphatic diseases is a global priority.
