The Pirates of Wall Street. Corporate Raiders are a breed that have died down since the tumultuous period of the 1970's and 80's which ended with Black Monday. However, they still live to this day., and they are a "necessary evil" in society. To specify, with everything in life, there is good, and there is bad. There are corporate raiders who take control of poorly performing, mismanaged companies, and they turn them around. This improves the company, people's lives, and the economy as a whole. Hence, they are quite necessary. However on the other hand, there are also corporate raiders who are only in it for the quick buck. They could careless about the company, jobs, and the economy. They just want profits. The Gordon Gekko types. They takeover undervalued companies, fire employees, sell off assets, liquidate pensions, and they leave the company in shambles with a massive 8+ figure profit. They either dump their shares after creating hype around the stock, sell off parts or the entire company to buyers, or merge the company into another and sell off their shares. Either way, they disintegrate these companies, and pocket any and all value from it at the detriment of the stakeholders. Hence, there is also the evil. But there's waaayyy more to this topic, so let's find out. Let's become a Corporate Raider! (for 13 minutes at least. . .)
