In this video I talk about some of the huge fines being issued under GDPR. Many of these are based around cookie consent dialog where rejecting cookies and tracking must be at least as easy as accepting and giving consent. As we all know, these dialogs are usually designed to coerce users into acceptance, and this breaks the rules as demonstrated at https://www.tessian.com/blog/biggest-... where you can see the top 25 fines issued so far and read about the reasons for those fines. I also talk about how the number of fines is rising over time, as shown at https://www.enforcementtracker.com/?i... and how this is a self sustaining business model where each fine funds the prosecution in order to bring more fines. Yes folks, this is designed to be an ambulance chasing system in order to ensure compliance. There is a lot of money to be made here so we can be sure enforcement is going to grow and grow. Finally I show you some examples of websites you will know, and their cookie dialog. I'm just showing you what I found here, and what the judgements have been so far, so draw your own conclusions on whether these sites are actively against GDPR and please take a look at your own company site and measure against those same judgements on the tessian site.
