After Harvard sent us home in March 2020 due to the emerging pandemic, a substantial number of students decided not to return at all the following academic year. Instead, they took a leave of absence, or "stopped out." Why did these students leave? What did they do? And how did their leave of absence affect their college experience?

In this talk, Gabby Landry '22-23 shares original research answering these questions based on a three-part study of Harvard students who took time off during the pandemic.
