This film was made just before America entered World War II. Renamed Goodyear Aircraft, the company put out this PR piece mentioning the rigids and showing their products -including barrage balloons. The finale shows the rollout of the K-3, the first of the non-rigids delivered on the Navy’s initial order of a half dozen. While the narrative states the K had machine guns, none were factory mounted until the K-7, several months into the war. The script contains a few other misconceptions... perhaps you can spot them. (Goodyear employees later said if they had any idea the Navy was going to order so many of them, they would have done some things differently!) On the same contract, the L-3, only the second L-ship made specifically for the Navy, is seen on rollout delivery about two months before the Pearl Harbor attack.
