The history of Mercedes-Benz trucks is incredibly diverse. When Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz presented their first commercial vehicles 125 years ago, they already built in technical details that can still be found on many trucks today. The film shows this on the oldest truck in the world still preserved in its original form and then takes us through the decades to the current state of commercial vehicle technology and even one step further with beautiful but also curious vehicles.

The initial competition with horse-drawn vehicles was quickly overcome and technical progress was reflected in ever more powerful trucks that drove economic growth. The impressive long-haulers of the pre-war period were followed in the late 1950s by the legendary Mercedes-Benz short-haulers - milestones that still have countless fans today.

At the same time, Mercedes-Benz engineers developed the front-wheel drive vehicles to a level of perfection and performance that is taken for granted today. After a look into a secret hall, with some still unrestored finds from the factory's history, development engineer Dirk Stranz climbs into the Actros L with us and explains why today's luxury is simply mandatory in a long-haul cab.

Afterwards, a ride in the eActros shows that the battery-powered distributor can also be fun for drivers, before the future developers at Daimler Trucks take us on the test track in their spectacular GenH2 truck. The sound and vehemence with which the 816-hp fuel cell truck accelerates from a standstill is simply impressive.
