Making your own ethernet cable ends at home is not too difficult with the proper tools and connectors. The difference between making ethernet cable ends for CAT5e and CAT6 cable is briefly discussed. To help you get started, I recommend specific crimpers, connectors and cable that work well for beginners. I also show how to test the ethernet cable to make sure that it is working, and recommend an inexpensive ethernet cable tester that is good for home use.
