As far as family vehicles go, these days three-row crossovers are just about the most desirable vehicles around when it comes to total value. For most families that have two or three kids, they are supremely spacious for five passengers and plenty of cargo since the third row can be stowed for most day-to-day activities and weekly shopping excursions.

And here we have two of the best. The Toyota Highlander has been around for 20 years now, and has long been popular as an efficient and reliable midsizer, and it is freshly redesigned for 2020. Sadly, the timing was not great for its launch, but that is no reflection of its quality and appeal. Its challenger in this comparison is the up-and-coming Kia Telluride a relatively new entry in the midsize, three-row crossover field that hit the market just last year. While Toyota sells about five Highlanders for every Telluride Kia moves, both are down about 20 per cent for the year. However, it should be noted that the Telluride is hampered by supply, with wait times of over six months for certain popular trims. No matter the sales, these are two of the very best in the segment, but is it the refreshed veteran or the new Kia on the block that you should spend your money on?
