About Speaker:
Dr Niranjan Baisakh is an Associate professor at the Louisiana State University under the School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences, USA. He did his Graduation and post graduation in agriculture, specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics. He did his PhD in Plant Biotechnology at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. After his PhD he worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Temasek Life Science Laboratory), Singapore. He worked as a Project Scientist at IRRI, Philippines, and later joined Louisiana State University, USA in 2000. He is a specialist on Plant abiotic stress, Molecular biology, Functional genomics, Genetic engineering, Tissue culture and dihaploid breeding.
He has received many grants and awards for his contribution in research. He received the Service award for serving in the Louisiana State University Inter-Institutional Biological and Recombinant DNA Safety Committee, Louisiana in 2014, the Teacher Merit Honor Roll, LSU Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta in 2014, the LSU Campus-wide first Laboratory Safety Accreditation Award in 2011, and the Tipton Team Research Award, Louisiana State University in 2007 and 2019.
Dr Baisakh has supervised more than 50 researchers including students, postdocs, visiting scientists, and short term trainees. He has published a large number of international journals. He is on the editorial board for reputed international journals like Scientific Reports, Plos One and he just joined the Crop Science journal.
