The luxury SUV segment is all the rage right now and is slightly replacing the ultimate luxury limousine segment which includes the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7-series. These giant SUVs make sense as they offer similar levels of luxury with immense street presence and a tonne of practicality with offroading credentials.

First things first, can’t run away from the fact that both these SUVs are humongous and have a huge footprint. The 2021 BMW X7 M50i is the newest entrant of the segment. It is enormous from every angle and looks imposing especially from the front which houses that ginormous BMW signature kidney grille. It is so big that the BMW logo had to be redesigned to go with the look of the SUV. That along with the slim headlamps, which house BMW’s latest Laser lighting technology, lends a mean look to the SUV.

As this is the M50i model, the front bumper gets a sporty design with big air dams to feed fresh and cool air to the fire-breathing monster sitting behind the twin grille setup. Moving to the side and the sheer size and wide wheel arches of this behemoth makes this semi-performance oriented version of the X7 look beefy. The sporty M50i model sits on giant 22-inch M-spec wheels which look absolutely stunning, to say the least. The rear end looks reserved and fits the feel of the SUV finished off with big rectangular exhaust tips.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 carries Mercedes’ elegant design language and looks sensational. In terms of size, it is directly comparable to the Bimmer but it ends up looking more luxurious. The front end is dominated by a big signature Mercedes grille with an equally sizable three-pointed star in the middle sitting proudly. As the GLS sits inline with the S-class, the SUV gets three LED lighting elements inside the headlamps depicting that this is the full-fat luxurious and top of the line SUV from the brand.

The side profile is dominated by its vastness and big fat AMG spec wheels. In fact, the SUV is so long that a Fiat 500X can easily fit in its wheelbase.

At the rear, the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLS 580 gets redesigned tail lamps similar to the ones in the new GLC and the GLE. The rear end gets a nice dose of chrome in the form of a skid plate with chrome exhaust tips to enhance the look of the SUV.
